Anna Faroqui & Haim Peretz (Germany) – Lana’s Story, 2017, 12:00
Lana, her husband Didar and their 2-year-old-son Layad had to escape from Kurdish Iraq in 2015. The family’s mobile phone was stolen on their way through Europe to Germany. Students from a Berlin grammar school Konrad-Agahd-Schule as well as the filmmakers give back the images in a drawn film.

Anna Faroqhi & Haim Peretz
are artists and authors of experimental documentary films. They have been working together since 2003, collaborating as a team and undertaking individual projects.
They create films, documentaries, design exhibitions and run interactive drawing projects in schools and cultural institutions.
Faroqhi is also an author of graphic novels.
In their work, they portray life in the big cities with the reoccurring topics of migration and lifelong learning.

Waed has worked as a nurse during a two-year siege in the Syrian war. She films and portrays Reza from Afghanistan who escaped poverty and forced deportation. Maral from Iran narrates about her escape from a forced marriage. Wanissou from Benin fled his hometown as a 13-year-old and talks about his first steps into independence in Germany.
Four refugees tell their stories and find their own way to narrate them in words, music, photography. The stories were developed during two 4-day projects at a refugee hostel in Bad Saarow.
