Florentia Ikonomidou (Greece) – Heart Attack, 2016, 02:44
In September 2015, I was in Lesvos for the organization of an exhibition. I had been, on this island, several times in the past. This time the shock was amazing. As if someone had awakened, someplace, a sinister oil deity in order to eliminate any human element. I felt that some sort of mutation occurred not only to the refugees, arriving by thousands in plastic boats, but also to the island’s landscape and ourselves. These emotions I wanted to express in this video which is the first of a series on the same theme.
